Academic Policy

  • North Carolina Wesleyan University (NCWU) offers 3 enrollment windows per year.

  • Master's programs require the completion of 30 credits. Each semester, students are required to complete at least two 3-credit courses plus a 1-credit CPT course.

  • The academic year is divided into three semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer. 

  • Students can still use CPT during breaks; there is no gap between CPT authorization periods.

CPT Policy

  • CPT Work Hours: up to 40 hours per week

  • CPT Application:

    • CPT agreement (including job description and employment start date); if not available, an Employment Verification Letter can serve as an alternative.

    • CPT application form

  • CPT Start Date: North Carolina Wesleyan University allows students to start CPT 30 days before program start dates.

  • CPT Renewal: Each semester, students need to submit an evaluation form signed by the employer to renew CPT. 

On-Site Policy

  • Students are required to attend one on-site session each semester. On-site classes are held in Rocky Mount, NC over a weekend (Friday: 4pm-8pm; Saturday: 8am-7 pm;  Sunday: 8am-1pm).

  • If you miss a on-site session, you can make up only one on-site session during the entire program. Missing on-site sessions twice will result in the termination of your F-1 status.

Day 1 CPT Program

  • Master's programs :

Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)

NCWU's MBA program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to success in management and leadership. The curriculum focuses on developing strategies that drive business results and provides tools to enhance operations. Courses cover key areas like decision-making, conflict resolution, ethics, and management strategies, while also deepening students' understanding of the global business landscape.

Students need to complete 33 semester hours of credits, including residency courses (on-site) and online concentration courses.

Master of Science in Strategic Leadership

NCWU's Master of Science in Leadership (MSSL) equips students with the knowledge and skills to integrate a broad range of leadership practices across business and industry. Designed to prepare individuals for current and future leadership roles, the program emphasizes strategic thinking, organizational strategies, and leadership concepts. Students will explore various leadership theories and practices, gaining the expertise needed to lead dynamic organizations, solve complex problems, and foster long-term development of both people and processes.

To graduate, students need to complete 10 courses (30 credits).

Master of Science in Information Technology Management (STEM)

The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) prepares IT professionals for leadership roles in a rapidly evolving field. NCWU’s program offers both online and hybrid formats, giving working students flexible learning options. This 30-credit program can be completed in 12-18 months, depending on full- or part-time enrollment. Designed to enhance both technical expertise and management skills, the MSITM equips graduates to navigate the complexities of modern IT and advance their careers.

To graduate, students need to complete 10 courses (30 credits).

How to apply and waive the application fee?

2. Submit Application Documents:

  • Academic Transcripts: official transcripts from all educational institutions you have attended, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

  • Diploma: highest degree diplomas.

  • Resume: current personal resume; including contact information of two references.

  • Foreign Transcript Evaluation: provide a foreign transcript evaluation from World Education Services (if applicable).

  • English Proficiency Test: can be waived if you hold a U.S. degree.

    • TOEFL: 79 or above

    • IELTS: 6.0 or above

    • Duolingo: 105 or above

  • Financial Documentation: a bank statement (minimum of $20,000) within the past three months (must be in US currency).

  • Statement of Purpose: 350 words.

3. SEVIS Transfer (for OPT students): After receiving the acceptance letter, confirm the SEVIS transfer date with your advisor. Then, complete the SEVIS transfer form to transfer your SEVIS record to North Carolina Wesleyan University.
