Bay Atlantic University
A New Generation University
About Bay Atlantic University
Bay Atlantic University (BAU) is a private, non-profit university in Washington, DC, offering affordable, career-focused programs in Politics, Business, and Information Sciences. Its diverse, globally minded campus connects students to top U.S. agencies, embassies, and international organizations, with a dynamic curriculum reflecting today’s market needs.
At BAU, students are responsible for selecting and registering their own courses. After receiving course selection approval from their academic advisor, students must log in to the registration portal to enroll in courses. Final approval will then be completed by the academic advisor through the system.
Why Students Choose Bay Atlantic University
Bay Atlantic University adheres to USCIS regulations to authorize CPT for international students.
Current OPT and F1 students may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1.
Overseas applicants may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1.
CPT authorization needs to be renewed every term.
CPT is required for graduation.
- Internship Requirement for Graduation:
Practical training is an integral component of BAU’s master’s degree programs. All master’s students must complete CAPS 623: Virtual Internship, a credit-bearing and graded course that connects academic learning with professional experience. To fulfill this requirement, students must complete a part-time internship during their final semester through hosting companies arranged by the University’s designated partner. CPT may only be authorized after students secure employment directly related to their program of study. - CPT Eligibility:
Students must be enrolled full-time, remain in good academic standing, and ensure CPT is an integral part of their program of study and directly related to a specific academic course. Students must receive DSO endorsement on Form I-20 and may not begin CPT employment before the CPT start date listed on the I-20. - Extension of Stay Pending & CPT Policy:
Students with a timely filed EOS application may continue studying and working for up to 240 days while the application is pending with USCIS. During this period, BAU may issue CPT to eligible students who continue to meet all academic and CPT requirements and receive DSO authorization before beginning or continuing CPT employment. BAU may review specific cases as needed. - Reinstatement Student Policy:
BAU may consider students seeking F-1 reinstatement. However, students with terminated SEVIS records are not eligible for CPT or other F-1 benefits while their reinstatement application is pending. CPT eligibility may only be considered after reinstatement is approved and the student regains valid F-1 status, subject to BAU’s academic and CPT requirements. - CPT Agreement Requirement:
BAU does not require employers to sign a standard CPT agreement, and no employer-signed alternative agreement is required. To request CPT authorization, students must submit a valid job offer letter and BAU’s CPT form, completed and signed by the student and the appropriate academic advisor. All documents must be reviewed and approved before employment begins. - Allow Faster Current Program Completion: Yes. Concurrent enrollment is allowed.
- Issue CPT During Pending EOS: Yes.
