CPT Policy at Lamar University

Lamar University adheres to USCIS regulations to authorize CPT for international students.

Current OPT and F1 students may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1.

❌ Overseas applicants cannot obtain CPT from Day 1.

CPT authorization needs to be renewed every term.

CPT is not required for graduation.

  • Initial F-1 Students: Not eligible for Day 1 CPT; must remain in the U.S. long enough to obtain a Social Security Number.
  • Change of Status (CoS) Students: Not eligible for Day 1 CPT;
  • Reinstatement Students: Not eligible for Day 1 CPT. 
  • CPT Duration Limit: Students may use CPT for a maximum of three semesters (up to 9 credit hours total).

Athletic Complex
It was a short stint, but it was eye-opening to see the young men and women working hard at their craft. The athletic complex is a place I would love to get a workout in, maybe kicking up some dust and letting everyone get a look-see at how the Lu gets down.
